Trucking Business

Brenda, Alice, Phionah, and Evelyn have devoted their lives to caring for the orphans in the Sonrise Children’s Home, in Kamuli, Uganda. These women were once orphans themselves. They were adopted by a Christian ministry called the Good Shepherd’s Fold and became successful professionals.

Because the four women have moved to a very rural area and spend 24 hours every day caring for the orphans, they had given up any prospects of independent careers. Today, they manage the Children’s Home and its school, as well as the farm that feeds hundreds of children. They struggled to get the orphanage’s farm crops to market, and they conceived the idea of starting a trucking business for local farmers.

Faith of a Child Foundation provided a loan of $40,000 to buy a truck, and the Core4 Ladies Investment group agreed to pay back $20,000. The rest of the loan amount was waived, as loan terms provide the orphanage with free trucking services for their crops.

Brenda and Alice have funny stories to tell, as they visit the local sugar cane processing centers and compete for trucking jobs with the men. Come with us to Uganda to experience this amazing story and ride the truck!
