Computer Lab
The kids at the Sonrise Children’s Home had never seen a computer before. Most of their teachers had never used a computer. The Sonrise school provided them and other local kids with an excellent education, but the principal and orphanage director had been orphans themselves, and they felt very strongly that a computer lab would be the best way to prepare the children for secondary school and productive careers.
Faith of a Child funded the construction of a building with strong bars on the windows and security cameras, then we bought furniture and computers locally to equip the lab with seven workstations. We mounted a cellular antenna and solar panels for power and Internet access. We funded the salary for an experienced computer teacher to come from the city and join the ministry.
Today, the Sonrise School has become a hub for everyone (children, parents, teachers, local adults) to learn about computer programs such as Word and Excel, and the kids are learning how to write code.
